DSMB25 Archaeology of the Holy Land: New Studies and Discoveries in Roman Judaea

The course will be devoted to the exploration of some of the most dramatic events in the history of the Holy Land during the early Roman period. It will examine aspects of life as well of the manifestations of resistance in Roman Judaea (the two Jewish Wars), as well as the interface between historical and archaeological sources. The course will present some of most recent archaeological discoveries, such as in Jerusalem, Caesarea Maritima, Herodium, the Judaean desert and Masada.
