26 Jul An expedition of brave children set out for the Trojan War They were taken there by the suburban camp of the Department of Classical Studies of the Faculty of Arts MU. Thanks to it, the children learned to sail on the sea, to move nimbly in a jib, to build a Trojan horse, to organize chariot races and much more.

The authors of the 10 best texts will enjoy a 3-day stay in Barcelona in November 9th, 2023, to participate in an awards ceremony, workshops and cultural exchanges. 27 Sep 2022 Evolution of Direct Discourse Marking from Classical to Late Latin If you read a work by Cicero or Seneca and then open The Pilgrimage of Egeria, Augustine, or Gregory of Tours, you will soon notice that Late Latin authors quote authorities differently. They provide a perfect example of synthesising two potentially conflicting traditions – “classical” and “biblical”. The book Evolution of Direct Discourse Marking from Classical to Late Latin examines how the system of direct discourse marking developed over the centuries.

1 Jul 2022 Images of Balkans in Modern Greek Literature We would like to invite you to a new course dedicated to representations of the Balkan Other and the Balkans. Using the theoretical tools of Imagology, the aim is to highlight the stereotypical constructions and the main connotations of the term "Balkans" in 19th and 20th century Modern Greek literature.Focusing mainly on literary texts, but also referring to other types of sources, the course aims to reconstruct the way in which the Balkans were perceived in the Μodern Greek imaginary.

Radová assumed the position of Dean of the Faculty on 1 April. A selection procedure is currently underway for all heads of departments, the results of which will be known at the end of May.
26 Jan 2022 The Faculty of Arts will be headed by doc. Irena Radová Doc. Mgr. Irena Radová, Ph.D., is the head of the Department of Classical Studies at the Faculty of Arts, where she teaches mainly ancient Greek and Roman literature. However, many know her from her established faculty-wide lectures on ancient mythology, which she also deals with scientifically. She has had positions at several foreign universities and since 2004 has been the head of the Department of Classical Studies at the MU Faculty of Arts. For two terms, she was Vice-Dean for Admissions and Development of Study Programmes at the Faculty.
