Call for papers: Laetae segetes VI

The Department of Classical Studies, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic, formally announces the International PhD Student Conference Laetae segetes VI, an opportunity for beginning researchers to present their work. This event is a continuation of similar colloquiums held in 2005, 2007, 2012, 2014 and 2016. On these occasions, young scholars from various universities submitted their contributions, the majority of which were published in the conference proceedings or in the journal Graeco Latina Brunensia – the online version of the journal is available here.

November 12–14, 2018, Brno, Czech Republic.

Abstracts

Abstracts of papers to be presented in English, German, Italian, or French are invited for consideration by the Conference Academic Committee. Please submit your abstract (up to 200 words) until August 7, 2018 via e-mail to the following address: radova@phil.muni.cz or mutlova@phil.muni.cz. Acceptance notification will be sent to you until August 20, 2018.

Presentations

Individual 20-minute paper presentations will be followed by 5 minutes of discussion.

Programme

Parallel sessions and panel discussions will be scheduled over four days; papers will be grouped by sessions (Ancient Literature; Classical Languages; Ancient history; Medieval and Neo-Latin Studies; Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies). Registration

Standard registration fee is 60 EUR/1 500 CZK.
Payment should be made by bank transfer until October 15, 2018.

The participation fee includes: conference proceedings, reception meal (as specified in the conference programme), and refreshments during coffee breaks.
The participation fee does NOT include: hotel booking and payment, and excursion.
The organizers recommend Hotel Continental, where university guests get a price reduction, or University Hotel Garni.

Publication

All papers will be considered for publication in Graeco Latina Brunensia (articles published in this journal are covered by the following databases: Lʼannée philologique, Medioevo Latino, Poiesis, ERIH, and SCOPUS).
