International Public Reading of Sophocles

Traditionally, the Department of Classical Studies of the Faculty of Arts of the Masaryk University is one of the few institutions in Central Europe to join the international simultaneous reading of ancient authors organized by the University of Lyon as part of the European Festival of Latin and Greek Poetry. This year, after a two-year break, Sophocles and his King Oedipus will be presented. We will be reading from it in the Reading Room on the ground floor of Building D in Czech translation, but the ancient Greek will certainly be heard too, at least in a short excerpt.
